Joy!

God is good. Do you ever have those days where you look back upon the day and just breathe a sigh of pleasure?
Today was one of those days. Just now, I got back from walking around campus, enjoying the beautiful evening. As I was walking around, I was struck once more with the realization that God has formed a marvelous Creation, that is not only wonderfully efficient and functional, but incredibly gorgeous. I wanted to call all of my friends and tell them to go and walk around campus, so that they too could bask in the glorious evening that God has made.
I have so many blessings in my life. My day started well, and just kept getting better. I went to my friend Sam's church, which was a lot of fun. It was good to be worshipping God with my fellow believers, and there were other folks from TWU there too. After the service, the youth group served a lunch for the entire church, and we had a marvelous time of fellowship. That was the start of my day; Worshipping my Saviour and fellowshipping with friends.
After church I didn't do much until the evening. I put on some laundry and I ate supper with some good friends I haven't seen in a while. But then, at 8:00, my evening began...I went dancing out in Abbotsford. I do this every week, and I love it, but tonight was particularly good.
Tonight as I was dancing I just kept having really good dances. Not necessarily really good as in "ooh...such good technique, etc.," but really good in that I was really enjoying myself, even more than usual. For those of you who have seen me dancing, you know that I love dancing, and that I really enjoy it, so tonight was something special.
After dancing, I went to Boston Pizza with some of my swing dancing friends, and we hung out there for about an hour. It is good to be with friends. At about 12:30, we all drove off to our respective homes, having had a fantastic time just being around each other. I got home at around 1:00, and then I went on the aforementioned walk.
As I was walking back here, I realized something. Somehow, I am discovering an ability to see things and hear things in my mind. Not things like little green men, or voices telling me to do stuff, but marvelous pictures when I hear music. I was listening to Johann Strauss on the way home from Abbotsford tonight, and I could see a glorious ballroom, full of dancing couples, elegantly dressed and smiling. The room was full of music and laughter and I wanted to be able to communicate how beautiful it was to people, but sadly I lack the ability to express myself in visual arts, and I was driving home alone, so I had no-one with me to tell about it. So I just enjoyed the picture myself and thought about the dancing couples. That's part of the discovery I'm making. I can see dancers in my mind when I hear music. As I was walking around campus, I found out that I can also hear music in my head. I don't know if it's great music, but it is something I want to write down, and it makes me very excited! It seems to me to be the seed of something beautiful, that has the potential to grow into an amazing piece of music. I don't know whether anyone will ever think much of it, but I intend to write the music in my head down, and begin working with it.
Perhaps I'm losing my marbles, and these are merely symptoms. However, if this is what losing one's mind is like, it is certainly very pleasant. Personally, I believe that God simply opened my eyes to the many blessings He gave me today. He is good! Because of who He is and what He has done, I am full of joy. Right now, I feel wonderful, and I thank God for it. I hope that all of you see the blessings God has for you in this coming week.

Cough Cough

Ahem...well...I've been informed that I seriously need to update...so here goes. :D This one'll just be short, since I don't have a lot of time before I have to get ready for class.

The past few days have been rather difficult. I came down with a rather severe cold, which started with a sore throat and cough on Sunday evening. Monday I had the same symptoms until woodwind quintet, when I began to feel extremely nauseous. This was followed by headaches and achey muscles on Tuesday. Happily, yesterday was a little better, with the aches subsiding somewhat. Today I am feeling as though I am recovering. It will take a while, but I will get better, and soon I'll be able to breathe properly and sing and play my horn again. Good health truly is a blessing, which we too seldom realize.

Otherwise, I've actually had a fairly good time lately. There is no point in being unhappy about being sick. If you have to be sick, one may as well enjoy it. At the very least, I've had a very nice sexy low voice lately, and I have had the marvelous excuse of not being well to eat "soothing" foods...such as chocolate. :D Anyway, I need to run and get a loan form signed.

God bless!

Woohoo!!!

Celebrating Christ's birthday is always awesome, particularly when you get to do it with your entire family! We spent Christmas morning here, opening presents and enjoying each other's presence, as well as enjoying other's reactions to our gifts. Mom and Dad gave Caiti a brand new drum set for Christmas, after sending her on a little hunt, with notes to the present, which ended up in the garage, telling her to ask for a driver to her next stop. We'd been unable to hide the drum set here, but happily some friends of ours had offered to keep it at their house till Christmas morn. Therefore, as soon as Caiti asked for her driver we all went over to our friend's house and picked up the drum set. Caiti was completely overjoyed! The house has been a little noisier since she got the set, but mercifully it's in her room downstairs, and it doesn't make the rest of the house too loud.

In the afternoon we all piled into the car and drove down to my grandparent's farm near Carstairs, where all of Mom's side of the family had gathered for Christmas dinner. We had a marvelous dinner, and enjoyed each other's company a great deal! Gatherings of the Robertson side of the family are always a little noisy, but always a lot of fun. We spent a raucous, lovely day together, then headed home at around eight o'clock.

Since then, I've not been doing much. Happily I have plenty of time to do recreational reading now, so I'm mowing through good books. I'm even managing to keep in touch with people fairly well. :) All in all, life is filled with blessings! I hope that your holidays are going just as well. God bless!!!

More adventures!

The past few days have been quite full. On Thursday evening we had our small carolling party here in Stettler, so spent most of the morning cleaning house. The house is nice and tidy now! The carolling itself went quite well, though we only had two other people besides ourselves. We sang at quite a few people's houses, and dropped by the nursing home to sing to Mom and Caiti's friend Ada. She's a lovely older lady, and really enjoyed having us sing for her. After we'd finished carolling, we came back home and ate homemade chili, fresh from the pot! Once we'd finished with the chili, we snacked on the bountiful mountain of good things that Mom had made for dessert. As we snacked, we all played a game called "Things." The idea of the game is that there are various things on cards, such as "Things...you never see on tv," or "things...you should not say to break the silence." One person reads out one of these cards each round, and the other player then write down what they think is the best/most amusing answer to the "thing." Once that's done, the player who read the card originally reads out all of the answers and the other players have to guess who wrote what. It is really quite a lot of fun. I'll have to see if I can bring it out some time next semester. Anyway, we spent the rest of the evening playing that and socializing. It was a great way to spend the evening.
Yesterday was a little less busy. Jesse and I drove to Red Deer, where Jesse had to do a bit of Christmas shopping. Since he was shopping close to Value Village, I dropped by there and found myself some wonderful pants for swing dancing! I found three pairs, and each of them were only around $4! They're quite similar to zoot suit pants, with a cozy waist and a lot of space for the legs! I can't wait to take them dancing! Once we got back to Stettler, we did various things around the house till the evening, when we went to see a Christmas concert at which the brother of one of Caiti's friends was performing. It was a pretty good concert...the brother is a fine piano player, and did about half of the concert. For the other half of the concert, he accompanied a singer from UBC, who was also quite good. All in all, it was a pleasant way to spend the evening, though I missed hearing any brass at the concert....they could have used a jazz band or concert band. :D
Today I finished up the last of my Christmas shopping, and this evening we'll be driving down to Carstairs for our big family carolling party! Everybody from Mom's side of the family gets together and we all go around to houses in the area, singing Christmas carols. There's nothing quite like the sound of thirty or fourty relatives singing together. The harmony works particularly well! Singing with my whole family is always a lot of fun! Also, the carolling party is a wonderful opportunity for the family to get together and see each other, since we don't see each other much through the year.
Anyway, I need to go wrap presents and get ready to head down to the farm. I hope that your holidays are going just as well. God bless!!!

My Amazing Roadtrip Adventure!

Well...I am back from Seattle area. Tonight I drove Lacey and Mack down to Woodinville, which is right down by Seattle...about three hours from here. Kt came along, so I had company on the way back. It was actually kind of a fun trip. I like being around my friends, and zooming along I-5 with them was fun. We did get pulled over by the police. I, along with everyone else in the car, was under the impression that the speed limit was 70 miles per hour. Sadly, it was actually 60 for the short section of highway we were on. Thus, we were pulled over to the side of the road. The best part was that I'd just been talking about how I'd been pulled over twice before, in Alberta. I was merrily telling the stories, and just after I'd finished, the police car behind us lit up his lights. He ended up being really nice and not giving me a ticket. I was only going 67, so it wouldn't have been much anyway, and he was polite...must have just wanted to make sure that we were proceeding safely. That was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Ben the felon gets accosted by a policeman! Anyway, we got to Mack's house just fine and dropped Mack and Lacey off. After that Kt and I hopped back into the car and headed home, armed with freshly printed directions from Google maps. We were chugging along just fine, until one of the directions was wrong. Thankfully, God was with us, and after a little bit of backtracking, we managed to find the right road. Actually, with surprisingly little backtracking, come to think of it. God is good! Anyway, after that it was an uneventful ride home. Kt slept for a lot of the way, and I drove for all of the way. :D I am so blessed to have the car this year! It has been incredibly useful, and I've been able to help people out a lot! It makes me happy! Now I must attend to a paper...God bless! Goodnight.
